At the COP 28, governments committed to tripling world's installed renewable generation capacity by 2030. Meanwhile, trading, and balancing markets are still adjusting to current installed capacity, with prices reaching record negative levels due to oversupply from these same renewable assets, making the business case for renewables more challenging today.

Eclipse was founded on the belief that green and local energy storage will be critical to realizing these ambitions. Eclipse builds, owns, and operates utility scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). We also optimize third-party batteries using ML-driven models to maximize value and profits in trading, balancing, and ancillary markets. Through active electricity trading, we capitalize on price volatility, support grid stability, and enhance renewable energy integration, delivering value to our clients.

Our goal is to provide Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) with the flexibility required to rapidly integrate renewables into the mix, while maximizing profit generation through real-time ML-based optimization of the battery in the traded electricity markets.

About the role:

As a Power Data Engineer within the Asset Optimisation team you will play a pivotal role in supporting Eclipse’s growth and technical operations. You'll work at the intersection of data engineering, real-time asset control, and power markets.

You'll work on the data systems that connect our trading algorithms to our physical battery assets. Your work ensures that market signals flow seamlessly through our optimization systems to real-time battery control, enabling us to capitalize on market opportunities while maintaining operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Asset optimization team you will have the opportunity to:

• Develop and maintain robust data pipelines that ingest real-time information from power markets and battery assets
• Refine tools and workflows to support asset monitoring, reporting, and day-to-day operations
• Contribute to develop an internal tool that monitors battery asset outages and delivers actionable information to our automated trading systems
• Perform focused data analyses to support the team, for example examining how temperature affects battery efficiency or exploring historical asset data
